What’s Up Vermont
Favorite VT Spots
An ongoing collection of chill spots to visit in Vermont. Fair warning- cell service is really spotty in Vermont so plan ahead and don’t expect to get cell service in many of these places.
Note: You can camp on any state land in VT as long as you stay below 2,300 ft. and stay 500ft from a body of water or road. There is a lot of info and maps on this page - scroll down to the primitive camping section.

Lareau Swimming hole - big parking lot here, pretty close to rt 100 but a cool spot and I’m sure people camp here all the time

Red Rocks Park South Burlington
“It was an ight spot, not the most comfy in terms of feeling safe but nobody bothered me. A lot of the stuff on the waterfront there is kinda locked down or pay to camp type” - van friend
Top of Brandon Gap - parking lot on the left at the top of the gap, hiking trails nearby including access to the long trail.
Groton state forest

Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover - catch the B&P circus every Sunday through Aug 31, show starts at 3pm. Began in the 60’s, it’s a quintessential Vermont experience. I have had luck just asking the locals about camping spots nearby.
Crystal Lake - near Glover
Lake Willoughby - 20 min north of Glover.
